Got home on Saturday, feels odd to be home, though kind of nice. Did have to do a bit of cleaning though as it seems to have been neglected a bit since I was last home (the floor in the living room had clumps of dog hair all over! I vacuumed it once, and I think my older brother has gone over it twice more thoroughly and it still looks dirty. Could be just the vacuum cleaner isn't too good). Also, think I will miss cooking for myself at some point, or at least buying my own food.
As far as the subject goes, that's because there's been a scare here recently and the water board has sent out a message to boil water before drinking it. Been a bit of panic buying with bottled water, seems a bit stupid to me considering all you have to do is boil it :/
Apparently it's some sort of contamination (cryptosporidium) involving animal waste being washed off fields, though that doesn't ring entirely true in my mind, it hasn't rained especially much recently, and it's not as if this is a new problem that has just cropped up.
Might get a summer job at the local shop like last summer, but unknown as of yet. I went to visit a few days ago and the boss there said he would call me the next day. Didn't though, he says he'll call on Monday though :/
Last of all, I've made a cameo appearance in an online webcomic :D

Got my results recently, passed my exams, my marks are a little erratic, ranging from 80% for Stars and Galaxies to 51% for one of the lab modules, but overall they all average out at about 66.5%, so a rather strong 2:1 standard by the looks of it ^_^ |

It was quite a lot of fun, not a traditional band playing though, whapweasel, a Folk-Rock-Roots Music-Ska band.
Anyway, did a lot of dancing, and will go to this sort of thing again in the future I think :D |

Also, at the end of the exams the college I'm part of (St Hild and St Bede) has a special day thing, didn't bother to try and get a table as I didn't really have anyone to go with (or at least thought not). Seems some people I know have a table and one of the members might not turn up so I might be invited to take his seat.
Also, question for you cookery experts out there, I've been told to eat more fish, but don't exactly like fish too much, at last not how mum cooks it (she poaches it in milk, when I mentioned this to some of the older people I know through compsoc and Go club they all turned their noses up XD )
Any suggestions? |

Had a guy come up to me in the street and show me his phone which then said, "Will you be my lover?" in a slightly tuneful way. Took me a little while to get over the shock and say no, though in hindsight he was with a group of friends, so it was probably a dare of some sort ^^"

So nice to be cooking for myself again, I get to use herbs, spices, garlic and ginger again :D
(Dad has a plain palette and doesn't like garlic. Sainsbury's doesn't have any ginger though (or corgette's, aubergene's or a good cheese selection, to wet to go to Tesco today though :P )
First proper meal was stir fry carrots and leaks (with garlic, soy sauce, basil and a pinch of coriander) and egg fried rice ^_^ |

Yep back in Durham now, train ride was fairly uneventful, though I missed the stop on the way up, and had to catch a train back from Newcastle ^^"

Went with the Scout group today as the Leader switching over to become an Explorer Scout leader (older boys basically). I played as I usually do, that being somewhat inconsistently, getting several strikes, spares and gutter balls. I always find I play best when I don't really care what the outcome will be, and I knew I was getting off to a bad start in that regard when my first ball of the game was a strike XD
In other news, things getting along alright, done about a third of my lab report, though I should really have been able to do more, and get some revision done too... too many distractions here, and I still find it kind of hard to get myself to really care about it ^^"
Also, I've been getting an odd feeling in my lower legs that feels like the muscle is cramping up slightly, or about to go into cramp, it's not too bad, just causes me to wince occasionally, though I've had it for a few days now, and it's definitely been getting more noticeable ^^" |

Yep, back in Bugbrooke again, got home on Monday, 4~5 hour train journey, kind of grueling, but not too bad, was good to get back into a familiar bed again ^_^
One thing I have noticed though is that although being further south, it is colder here, older house I guess.
Also, not having to cook for myself is good, though I do like doing it occasionally.
No early mornings is a big plus, just have a lab report and some revision to do before I go back.
One odd thing did happen before I went back, when I was going to empty the main kitchen bin I noticed the wrapping for something called a "fleshlight" which is advertised as being the premier male sex toy, basically an artificial vagina... O_O
There's two guys in that house, me being one of them, and that thing isn't mine... really don't want to think at all hard about that one >_<
Plus this was in the MAIN KITCHEN BIN! Who on earth is that indiscreet? O_o |

Last day of term today, then going home next Monday. Feels kind of odd, but it will good to be home again (after I get past the 4~5 hour train journey that is >_<). Also got to try to use up as many of my left over perishables before going home, don't want to take anything like that home on the train, guess I can give left over vegetables to people who will be staying over the holidays. Got a lab report, some questions and revision to do over the holidays, but it is still a welcome relief from University ^^"
In other news I am now a member of the CompSoc exec, well... technically at least anyway, I'm keeper of the society mascot, hardly a position of responsibility, all I have to do is look after a stuffed Gnu and the beer horn XD |

I was hoping for mid 60's, since I had put more effort in than usual, expecting high 50's because I was feeling somewhat pessimistic at the time, but, when I saw the mark my draw dropped (figuratively at least :P)
I got 70% :D
Much higher than I'd ever thought I would get. |

Got my essay mark back today, 55, while not horribly bad, these sorts of things certainly drag down my average marks. Oh well, should still be able to get a good 2:1 if I study enough, somehow doubt I'll be able to scrape a first though ^^"
Guess term is almost over at least, and not much of the second year either. Still another 2 to go though, and I'm already getting rather tired of this whole education thing, I'm finding it harder and harder to get myself to care enough to do the work. Guess I'll survive somehow though. |
